• Are you new to this model photography lark?
  • Do you want to learn how to use studio lighting?
  • Do you want some tips on how to direct models with different skill levels?
  • Do you want to know how to work with MUAs and stylists?
  • Do you think rim lighting is mood lighting for the toilet?

Well if you don’t know your beauty dish from your snoot and you get in a bit of a dither when you are trying to get a model to pose this may just be the course for you.

I’ve been threatening to organise a get together for photographers in the Lincoln area for sometime. The only thing that really held me back was finding a suitable location.

I’m pleased to say that we now have one, the fantastic Victoria Pub right by Lincoln Castle gates are letting us use their meeting room for free! The Victoria is well known locally for providing some truly excellent ale in a traditional environment. There is plenty of parking nearby and if you get peckish the Bailgate area is a couple of minutes walk with it’s great selection of restaurants. (The Vic only serves food at lunchtimes.)

The first meeting, of hopefully, many is Thursday 28th October at 7.00pm. If you are a photogrpaher, model, MUA or any other creative in the Lincoln area we would love to meet you. It’s absolutely frre but we do ask you to register on the events page as we are limited on numbers and need to get an idea of who is coming.

Hope to see you there, Andrew.

It looks like 2010 is going to be a good year, I’ve started off with my first cover shot. The magazine is Equestrian Life and top horsewoman Becky Blissitt with her amazing show hack The Wizard. Both Becky and the Wizard are familiar faces at such prestigious events as th Horse of The Year Show and The Royal International Horse Show.

The magazine wanted something that looked seasonal so we spent a couple of days in the freezing snow to get the shot.

I used a touch of fill flash from a single SB900 to bring out The Wizard’s lovely colour and pop a little light under the brim of Becky’s hat. Shot on my Fuji S5 Pro to try and make the most of the dynamic range.
