I keep saying that I am going to blog on a regular basis but as the majority of my blogs are about photo-shoots this presents a problem. The best time to talk about a shoot for me at least is just after the shoot, everything is still fresh in my mind and I’m full of enthusiasm for the results. In most cases I don’t have any images to show until the client has made their selection and I have subsequently edited them, this can be up to 3 or 4 weeks after the shoot. So, in future I am going to pick one shot from the shoot and edit it and post it on the blog within 48 hours of each shoot, the other images, usually about 20 for a portfolio shoot I’ll put up at a later time as a gallery with a few extra comments.
If you would like to know more about the technical aspects of the creation of any of the images I’m more than happy to share, just send me a message and I’ll do my best to explain things like lighting, post processing and even where some of the ideas came from.
I’m starting today with an image of an amazing model, Numb or Nusi if you use her nick-name. I worked with Nusi on a quick location shoot when I was in Edinburgh, she lives in Glasgow, we got some great shots but I was really keen to get her down to my studio for some dramatic headshots. I’m pleased to say she decided to make the trip last weekend and the results are exactly what I had in mind.
Here is the first image, make-up of course by my very talented wife, Helen. Lots more from this session to come but for now here is the first edit.
